SEE LIVE VIDEO OF ERICK LYLE/BUCKY SINISTER/GRETA SNIDER LIVE AT NEEDLES AND PENS

Bucky, Greta and I rolled out our unofficial tribute to Hunt’s Donuts on July 10th at Needles and Pens. There were free donuts and we both read our Hunt’s pieces. Bucky was amazing — so funny. I was honored to be on the bill with him. He read a great piece at the end about Frankie Glitter Doll and Frank’s Depression Poetry — two of Bucky’s dead friends who were around when I first moved to San Francisco. Greta passed out 3D glasses for her 3D portrait show and everyone had them on the whole time I was reading to them. Pretty eery to look out to the sea of impassive, blue and red eyed faces! Walking home after the show, Bucky and I came across a “Glitter Doll” tag written in the sidewalk cement on 16th street — a sweet ending to a great night of remembering old Mission District stories. Andrew from Needles and Pens documented the show and you can check out live video of Bucky and I reading and photos of the audience here…

    Hi Erick,
Michelle and I were talking about how much we missed our friend, Frankie Glitter Doll…and I thought I’d see if anything new was online about him.
What a delight to find your posting.
Michelle just told me the story of how Frankie was on Diane Feinstein’s “public enemy number one” list, for tagging the entire city. She wanted it to be clean for the Democratic Convention in 1984.
    Best,
    Luna Discussion
    and
    Michelle
